THE MIND AND THE THINKERS

Image
Stella woke up early in the morning and did her devotion. She later went about doing her normal morning chores, and then realized her siblings were still sleeping. She went to wake her twin brothers first. “Tobi, Toni! Wake up joor. You guys are almost late for school”. Then she opened the door of her sister’s room and made a pitiful face. Mum took her to hospital two days ago. The doctor said she had fever; but she should be okay now, she was jumping up and down yesterday. She left her to continue sleeping though. “Stella!! Stella!!!” Mrs. Johnson was having her breakfast downstairs “I’m coming Ma” Stella replied “I wouldn’t be coming back early today. I have to get some things from the market, so I’d be going straight from work. Make sure Grace finishes her food takes her drugs this morning and afternoon, you hear?” She looked at Stella and Stella nodded. I’m not sure Grace has enough strength to wash up this afternoon, so wash the morning and afternoon plates.” No str...
This is a second part of my previous post about God-given talents. As I was posting it, something came to my mind; [Matthew 25:15] To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. "According to his ability" In the real sense, nothing God gives you is too much for you or beyond your capability. He sees you, and know you're capable (Of course, He knows you better than yourself). I used to feel all weighed down by the things around me and I'd always say they're too much for me to carry/handle, but God sees me and knows I can do it. The key to waking up from the thought that anything is too much to handle is totally trusting God. Trusting in God gives you confidence, bc you'd feel the coverage and it'd be to your consciousness that you're actually doing nothing at all. All you need to do is let Him flow through you. So, stop complaining about how ...

Your Talents and God's Will

I was going through my stuff and I came across a paper. On that paper was a write-up I wrote last year for the Bible study unit in CSF-FOLC (FUTA). I read it, and it ministered to me, so I decided to share. A bit edited though Who doesn't know the parable about the three servants that were given talents by their Master? Even many unbelievers must have heard it one way or the other. So, I believe we all know the story. But then...... Have you ever seen this parable from a different perspective? One day, I was thinking about this parable and I went back to it. The master just gave them the talents, he didn't tell them to double or increase the talents. OK, the idea of burying the talent is pretty annoying. What if the third servant used his own talent to buy clothes and shoes? Afterall, the master didn't tell them anything. Or rather, since his fellow servants were increasing their talents, he could have gone to split his into pieces. That would've been better ...

YOUR PERSPECTIVE, YOUR LIFE

I got an inspiration last week from the burglary that was fixed by our kitchen door. I was inside the kitchen, preparing dinner when my sisters started playing with the burglary. After so much play, they locked it. I looked at it, felt locked. I went ahead to rest on the burglary. "Mehn, they look like prison bars" I thought. But then, I moved back to the middle of the kitchen, at that time, they were resting on the burglary, talking to themselves. I noticed something. I was n't looking like I was the one behind bars anymore, they were. It felt like they were in prison and I came to visit. I saw them putting their fingers around the bars and trying to put their heads through the spaces. Then it hit me. I saw something different when I looked at the situation from a different "perspective". Your life is being played out from your perspective. Nobody is supposed to play out your life for you. If you choose to see yourself as a victor, then you're one...

RESULT PALAVA

"Funke! Funke!!". Is there anytime she's not shouting my name? Ha! "Ma, I'm coming." Funke answered "Why haven't you eaten your breakfast?" "I'm not eating, I don't like the vegetable sauce" "Ok, just make sure you don't eat anything else" "But Ma..........." "Shut-up, I don't want to come back and still meet that sauce there." Mrs Adegoke pulled her right earlobe. "Mummy, veggies give me heart burn" "All of you are spoilt. Very spoilt." She shook her head. "When I was your age, I ate every food I was given." She murmured as she left the kitchen. "JJ, I hope you're ready. You're almost running late" "I am" he chuckled and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Your daughter doesn't want to eat the food her mother cooked oo" "Ah ahn, Keke, Why now?" Mr Adegoke squeezed his face in disappointment. "Daddy, vegg...

DEATH: YOUR KEY TO FREEDOM

So you grew up at the west and didn't use the word "kani", are you sure you grew up at the west? Before I proceed, "kani" means "let's say" Especially the film producers. "Oya, let's act play. Kani I'm your mother" or "Kani I'm a doctor" or "Kani I'm in my office, you'll now come and see me". Hehehe, those days Mummy's shoes were number one costumes. "Kani ayam selling onions, Oya come and buy". Then we packed all the onions at home. "How much?" "Ten ten naira." Or is it when we visit Grandpa and Grandma and then Temiloluwa and Tosin wouldn't let us rest. "Kani I'm Superman" "No, I'm Superman, you yaa Batman" "No I'm Superman joor" Hehehe, brothers war (I've lost count) would start. The one that marveled me the most was, "Kani I aff die". Some people will even secure themselves and say, "God f...

GIVE HIM YOUR DRINK!

Have you ever been so thirsty, like soooo thirsty, and you need something to drink? That was the case with this Samaritan woman in John 4(the main ref is verse 7). She had drinksssss, name it! Champagne, Vodka, Whiskey and the likes. For those of us that are quick to judge, she had nonalcoholic drinks too. C'mon, there was Coke, Fanta, Spirite....... As for all those that are watching their weight, she's been there too. She had green tea, Flat tummy tea, iced tea, coffee, name it! She had gone through this deserted side of life, drank everything she had. We all think this woman only had the bad drinks, had bad experiences and went through bad stuff. No! She had the good drinks too, she had good experiences too. Unfortunately, she wasn't still satisfied! The more she drank, the thirstier she was. Funny though! She spent her life buying and drinking, buying and drinking, and the process continued. Yet, no satisfaction! Well, it seemed like she realized she didn't hav...
